Privacy
In short
- We use Vercel Web Analytics for anonymous visitor and page-view counts, without analytics cookies. No ads.
- Logging in uses Discord. We get your Discord id, username, display name and avatar. Never your email or password.
- The add-on and companion only send FWB game data: your characters, levels, dings, statistics, professions, XP, and the guild roster. Nothing else on your PC is read or sent.
- Everything about members is for members only: you have to be in the FWB Discord server to see it. The one exception is your character card (game data only), which shows when someone shares your profile link.
- We never sell data and never use it for anything but running the guild.
- Want something removed? Send Habbekrats a DM on Discord.
Who is responsible
This site is a hobby project of the guild Friends Without Benefits, built and run by Habbekrats, who is responsible for your data (the “controller” under the GDPR). It is not a company and has no commercial purpose.
Questions, or a request to see, change or delete your data: send Habbekrats a direct message on the FWB Discord.
What we collect and why
Visiting the site
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages guildies use. It records page views, referrers, approximate location (such as country), browser, operating system and device type. These are anonymous statistics, not linked to your Discord account or profile, and it sets no analytics cookies.
Before sending a page URL, we remove query parameters and fragments and replace member and character-card ids with a placeholder. We don't send profile details or game data to analytics.
Our host (Vercel) also keeps short-lived technical logs with your IP address and browser type to keep the site running and safe. We don't use those logs for anything else.
Logging in with Discord
- We ask Discord for identify and guilds. We store your Discord id, username, display name and avatar, and keep them in step with Discord.
- Your server list is only checked at login to see whether you are in the FWB Discord server. We don't store it.
- We use your verified Discord identity to check your membership and roles on the FWB server for the members area and companion uploads. We store your Discord id, the server and role settings used, membership and admin status, and when the check was made and expires. Checks last at most 15 minutes; login and admin actions check again immediately. Each new check replaces the previous result.
- A login cookie keeps you logged in. It is needed for the members area to work, so we don't ask for consent for it.
What you add yourself
All optional, all editable on your Me page.
- Birthday: day and month only, no year. You choose whether the guild may see it and whether the bot congratulates you. You can also set it with
/birthdayin Discord. - Real name, nationality, PvE or PvP and Horde or Alliance preference.
- Battle.net tag and Warcraft Logs profile link.
- Your main character and the spec of your characters.
- Events you add to the guild calendar, and the events you say you're going to.
- Link codes you make to link a character to your account. They expire after 15 minutes.
The FWB add-on and the companion app
The add-on records game data in its own save file. The companion, if you install it, uploads that file to the site. Without the companion, nothing leaves the game.
What gets uploaded about your own characters:
- Name, class, race, gender (male or female, for the race portrait), level, spec, faction, realm, guild name and the in-game character id.
- Your dings, with zone, time and /played.
- The numbers from the game's Statistics panel (quests, kills, deaths, dungeons, gold looted and so on).
- Your professions and skill levels.
- The recipes your characters know, read when you open a profession window, so guildies can find who crafts what with
/craftin Discord. - XP progress every 10 minutes of play, and how much of your XP was rested bonus.
What gets uploaded about other guild members:
- The guild roster: name, class, level, rank, public guild note. The site only takes this from officers.
- Joins, leaves and kicks from the guild, and dings and link codes heard on the guild add-on channel.
So your characters can show up on the site even if you never install anything yourself, because an officer's add-on sees the guild roster. That only covers what every guild member can see in game.
What the companion does on your PC:
- It only reads the FWB add-on files of the WoW accounts you tick. It doesn't read chat, passwords, keystrokes or any other file.
- Your WoW account folder name never leaves your PC. We only get a scrambled code (a hash) of it, to keep characters of the same account together.
- Its settings and a personal upload key are saved on your PC. On the site we only store a scrambled copy of the key, the PC name you gave it and when it was last used. You can disconnect a PC on your Me page.
- It asks the site every so often whether there is a new version.
Raid sign-ups (Raid-Helper)
When you sign up for a raid with the Raid-Helper bot in Discord, we copy the sign-up to the site so it shows on the calendar: your Discord id, name, class, spec, role, sign-up status and time.
Polls
The Forever Inventory (the 2026 PvE or PvP poll) is stored by the name people used in it, with their answers. Members can claim their own vote and change it. If you don't set a preference yourself, your profile shows your Forever Inventory answer.
For the other polls, like Member of the Month, a vote is stored with your Discord id, your name at the time of voting, what you voted for, whether you voted on the site or in Discord, and when. You can vote with the buttons under a poll's Discord message without logging in here; we then get your Discord id and name from Discord. For Member of the Month we also store the Discord id and name of the guildie you voted for, and when the poll opens the bot may save the names in the FWB Discord server so they can be picked on the site. The winner gets the Member of the Month feat.
Our Discord bot
Admins switch each of these on or off and pick the channel on the admin page.
- Birthday greetings and a Birthday role for the day, only if you said it may announce.
- Dings, feats (like First to 60) and a daily report with guild stats and character names.
- A Connected role for members who logged in on the site and have a character in the guild.
- Discord nickname: if the guild has switched this on, the bot sets your nickname on the FWB Discord server to your main character's name. We keep the last nickname we set so we don't repeat it. Don't want this? Don't pick a main, or ask an officer.
- The weekly FWB Herald, a fun recap written with AI (see Services below).
- Polls with vote buttons and the running count. Votes in normal polls show who voted what; Member of the Month only shows the result once it closes, and then names and congratulates the winner.
Who can see it
- Anyone: the public pages (the guild's story, principles and how to join), and the character card of a member whose profile link they have. When a profile link is shared in Discord (or another app that shows link previews), that app fetches the card and shows it in the chat. The card only shows game data from one character, normally your main: name, level, race (male or female portrait), class, spec, guild rank, realm, faction and your feats. Never your real name, birthday, nationality, Battle.net tag or Discord account, and not the birthday feat. Profile links contain a random id, so nobody can browse or search the cards.
- Members(logged in and in the FWB Discord server): the roster and profiles (including your characters' professions and skill levels), Road to 60, calendar, raid sign-ups and polls (who voted what, except Member of the Month, which stays secret until it closes and then only shows how many votes each guildie got). Your birthday only if you chose to share it. Your Battle.net tag, real name and nationality only if you filled them in.
- Admins: also the bot settings. Habbekrats, as the person who runs the site, can see everything in the database.
- The FWB Discord server: whatever the bot posts there. When someone uses
/craft, the answer names the members and characters (mains and alts) that know the recipe or have the profession, with their skill level. When someone uses/buddy, the answer names the members and characters levelling near their level, with the level, class, the zone of their latest ding and how long ago that was. Only characters that dinged in the last 7 days show up.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: as long as you're a guild member, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Daily statistics snapshots: 60 days.
- Web Analytics uses a temporary visitor hash that Vercel discards after 24 hours.
- Link codes: they stop working after 15 minutes.
- Poll votes: kept with the poll as guild history. Ask us if you want yours removed.
- Connected PCs: until you disconnect them.
- Game data from the beta test: wiped at the launch of WoW Forever on 5 November 2026.
- Characters that left the guild are marked as left and kept for guild history (join dates, Road to 60). Ask us if you want yours removed.
- The add-on keeps its own recent events for 14 days in its save file on your PC.
Why we may use it, and your rights
We use your data to run the guild's site and Discord: showing members who's who, organising events and raids, and celebrating levels and birthdays. Under the GDPR that is a legitimate interest of the guild. Everything you add yourself, installing the companion and birthday announcements are based on your consent, which you can take back at any time by removing it, disconnecting your PC or uninstalling.
You can ask to see your data, get a copy, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how we use it. Send Habbekrats a DM on Discord and we'll sort it out within a month. If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to a data protection authority, like the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens or the one in your own country.
Things you can do yourself right now:
- Change or remove your birthday and profile details on your Me page.
- Disconnect a PC on your Me page, and uninstall the companion and the FWB add-on.
- Don't pick a main if you don't want the bot to set your nickname.
FWB is a guild for adults. Please don't use the site if you are under 16.
When the site, add-on, companion or bot starts collecting something new, we update this page and the date at the top. Bigger changes are also announced in Discord.
